My Teaching Philosophy
Any student has the ability to enhance their music skills. I give my students the tools that they need to meet the goals and standards that are set, but go beyond the expectation. I believe the journey a student takes to grow and learn about themselves and their instrument is of most importance.
I am committed to sparking a connection in my students and allow them to express themselves through the literature. I will provide a safe and welcoming environment for my students to express themselves and find connections to the music we are studying. It is my hope that students will be able to experience, perform, and learn the ins and outs of music while having FUN!

About Early Childhood Music Classes
The early childhood music curriculum that I typically use as is called the First Steps in Music Series by John Feierabend and is primarily for ages infant through kindergarten, but can be extended beyond. The curriculum is based on an extensive survey of research related to the development of singing and movement skills in young children, as well as many years of practical experience sharing musical activities with the younger ages. It is this combination of a research-based curriculum, quality literature, and practical experience that makes the First Steps in Music curriculum unique. Through this curriculum students will develop a variety of skills and benefits through music including: social-emotional development, sensory awareness, fine motor movement, whole body movement, musical skills, cognition, and receptive language.
Infant - ThreeYou and your child will experience and develop the foundations of musical skills through bounces, wiggles, tickles, tapping/clapping, simple songs, lullabies, and more!
|
Four & BeyondYour child will explore the gift of music through echo songs, call-and-response songs, simple songs, song tales, action songs, circle games, beat motion activities, and more!
